With the rise of remote work, many business owners are now operating their
ventures from the comforts of their own homes. However, creating a productive
workspace at home is not as simple as setting up a desk and a chair in an empty
room. It requires careful planning and thoughtful execution. This article will
provide tips on how to create the perfect home workspace.

Choose a Noise-Free Spot

The first step in setting up your home workspace is selecting the right location.
Look for a spot with limited noise and distractions. This could be a spare
bedroom, a basement, or even a quiet corner in your living room. Choose a place
where you can concentrate on your work without being disturbed by household
activities.

Set Boundaries With Your Kids

If you have children, it's essential to establish some ground rules about your
workspace. Make them understand that your office is off-limits during your
working hours. This will help maintain the professionalism and productivity of
your workspace, despite being at home.

Boost Energy With Healthy Snacks

Staying healthy and energized is crucial when running a business from home.
Keep a stash of healthy snacks within reach. Nuts, fruits, and granola bars are
excellent choices. They will keep your energy levels up and prevent unnecessary
breaks to hunt for food.

Prioritize Comfort With Ergonomic Office Furniture

Your comfort and health should be a priority when designing your home office.
Invest in ergonomic office furniture, such as adjustable chairs and desks. These
will ensure proper posture and reduce the risk of back pain and other physical
discomforts. A comfortable workspace promotes productivity and efficiency.

Decorate With Personal Touches

Personalizing your workspace can make it more enjoyable and motivating. Add a
few personal touches like family photos or your favorite artwork. However, remember not to overdo it. Too many personal items can clutter your workspace and become a source of distraction.

Add Extra Storage With New Cabinets

Storage is an important aspect of a functional workspace. To ensure you have
enough space to store all your documents and supplies, consider working with a
professional cabinet maker to add cabinets to your office. They can customize
the design and size to fit your needs perfectly. This custom solution not only
enhances the aesthetics of your workspace but also optimizes its functionality
and looks great during video calls. Having customized cabinets allows for
efficient organization and easy access to all your essentials. This may help in
making your workspace more productive and less cluttered. Remember, a well-
organized workspace is a more effective one, so invest time and resources in
creating storage solutions that work for you.

Maintain Organization

Maintain an organized workspace. Use dividers, trays, and holders to sort out
your papers and stationery. Label your drawers and shelves for easy
identification of items. An organized workspace reduces time wasted searching
for things and increases your overall productivity.

Creating the perfect home workspace is a balance between functionality and
comfort. By choosing a quiet spot, setting boundaries, keeping healthy snacks,
investing in ergonomic furniture, adding personal touches, adding new cabinets,
and organizing, you can transform any space into a productive and enjoyable
workspace. Remember, your workspace is a reflection of your business. Make it
as professional, organized, and inspiring as you want your business to be.

"Stand up for something or else you will fall for everything!"

Have you ever checked into a hotel or maybe onto a plane or had any other experience where you came up against a guideline? A clerk may respond "I am sorry sir, that's not our company policy!"

I often want to reply back with some glib remark about "accepting company policies is against our company policy", nonetheless they serve a function. They set standard operating agreements for doing business. If you know these in advance it is easy to adjust your behaviour to fit in.
I had a great dentist, he has subsequently retired. He booked 30-minute appointments and if you were more than 5 minutes late you would arrive at his reception and immediately have a new appointment booked. He wouldn't see you. I did this once and from that point on I was always a few minutes early.

The result!

My dentist was never, never, never late. He also had the most amazing work-life balance. At the end of the day, he always got out the door when he had planned. It was magic to watch.
What rules do you have in place that will push back against the torrent of stuff we can get absorbed in on a daily basis?

  • Do you work on weekends?
  • What time do you finish work?
  • If you work with your partner when do you stop talking about work?
  • Do you fly business class?
  • Do you work Fridays?
  • Do you go to bed with arguments unresolved?

What are your operating agreements and what are your personal (company) policies? It doesn't matter what rules you create. What matters is that you create boundaries for behaviour. Governing principles that allow you to say no to the little things in life and yes to the big things.
When you feel out of control and like life is pushing you around - push back!

How to Raise Kids.

Some parents can’t stop worrying that they’re gonna mess it up or that their kid’s gonna have it tough.

According to some statistics, though, most parents are confident in their skills. However, parents often teach their kids the wrong lessons that influence them in the worst way.

We’ve checked with the best psychologists to come up with a list of 8 bad lessons a lot of parents unknowingly teach their kids. We’ve also provided some healthy alternatives that’ll help you raise your kids to become strong, confident, and self-sufficient adults.

Bad Lesson #1: Snitching is wrong.

Bad Lesson #2: Children shouldn’t express their negative emotions.

Bad Lesson #3: You should try to make people like you.

Bad Lesson #4: Get good grades or you’ll never get a good job.

Bad Lesson #5: “Always the best for my baby!”

Bad Lesson #6: Making a mistake means losing something.

Bad Lesson #7: Children should never be idle.

Bad Lesson #8: Children must always share their toys.

SUMMARY

-Parents should teach their kids to talk openly about unfair or difficult situations and be patient if some of the stories they tell don’t really seem like a big deal through the eyes of an adult.

-Encourage your child to express their feelings in a safe way.

-A child should not have to sacrifice their own interests and goals to please others, and they shouldn’t let anyone force them to do something they don’t want to do.

-Tell your child to work hard to gain knowledge, but don’t wrap themselves up in good grades.

-Financially responsible parents make great role models for their children, who learn the value of money and use it as a tool, not as entertainment.

-Honest mistakes don’t need to be punished. If your child gets a bad grade or flunks a test, that might mean they just need help with a tough subject.

-Many psychologists claim that children won’t learn to rely on themselves if their parents don’t give them some alone time. Provide them with toys, books, and other activities, but let your child choose how to entertain themselves.

-Encourage your children to share their toys while instilling in them a sense of fairness. If another child wants to borrow the ball they’re playing with, it’s reasonable for the kids to play with that ball together.

If you’d like to become an early riser, there are some things you should know before you run off to set your oft-ignored alarm clock. Here are five tips I’ve discovered to be most helpful in making the transition from erratic sleeper to early morning wizard:

1. Choose to get up before you go to sleep

You’re not very good at making decisions when you’ve just woken up. You were in the middle of a dream in which [insert celebrity crush of choice here] is serving you breakfast in bed only to be rudely awakened by the harsh tones of your alarm clock. You’re frustrated, angry, confused, and surprised. This is not the time to be making decisions about whether or not you should stay in bed! And yet, most of us leave the first decision of our day to be made in a blur of partial wakefulness.

No more! If you want to be a consistently early riser, try making your decision to rise at a specific time before you go to sleep the night before. This frees you from making the decision in the morning when you’ve just woken up. Instead of making a decision, you have only to follow through on your decision from the night before. Easier said than done? Of course. But only for the first few times. Eventually your need for raw willpower to get out of bed will diminish and you’ll be the proud parent of a new habit!

Steve Pavlina suggests you practice getting out of bed during the day to get a few of the “practice sessions” out of the way without the early morning fog in your head.

2. Have a plan for your extra time

Let’s say you’ve actually made it out of bed 2 hours before you normally would. Now what? What are you going to do with all this time you’ve discovered in your day? If you don’t have something planned to do with your extra time, you risk falling for the temptation of a “morning nap” that wipes out all the work you put into getting up.

What to do? Before you go to bed, make a quick note of what you’d like to get done during your extra hours the following day. Do you have a book to write, paper to read, or garage to clean? Make a plan for your early hours and you’ll do more than protect yourself from backsliding into bed. You’ll get things done and those results will fuel your desire to build rising early into a habit!

3. Make rising early a social activity

While there’s obvious value in joining a Lifehack Challenge in order to get you started as an early riser, your internet buddies just don’t have enough pull to make your new habit stick in the long term. The same cannot be said for the people you spend time with as part of your early morning routine.

Sure, you could choose to read blogs for two hours every morning. But wouldn’t it be great to join an early breakfast club, running group, or play chess in the park at 5am? The more people you get involved in making your new habit a daily part of your life, the easier it’ll be to succeed.

4. Don’t use an alarm that makes you angry

If we’re all wired differently, why do we all insist on torturing ourselves with the same sort of alarm each morning? I spent years trying to wake up before my alarm went off so I wouldn’t have to hear it. I got pretty good, too. Then I started using a cellphone as my alarm clock and quickly realized that different ring tones irritated me less but worked just as well to wake me up. I now use the ring tone alarm as a back up for my bedside lamp plugged in to a timer.

When the bright light doesn’t work, the cellphone picks up the slack and I wake up on time. The lesson learned? Experiment a bit and see what works best for you. Light, sound, smells, temperature, or even some contraption that dumps water on you might be more pleasant than your old alarm clock. Give something new a try!

5. Get your blood flowing right after waking

If you don’t have a neighbor you can pick fights with at 5am you’ll have to settle with a more mundane exercise. It doesn’t take much to get your blood flowing and chase the sleep from your head. Just pick something you don’t mind doing and go through the motions until your heart rate is up. Jumping rope, push-ups, crunches, or a few minutes of yoga are typically enough to do the trick. (Just don’t do anything your doctor hasn’t approved.)

If you live in a beautiful part of the world like me, you might want to use a bit of your early morning to go for a walk and enjoy the beauty of the world around you. If you have a coffee shop open within walking distance, dragging yourself out of bed for a cup of coffee to savor on your walk home as the world wakes around you is a wonderful experience. Try it!

1. Relax! - Give yourself time to unwind and breathe every once in a while. Cuddle up with your lover or pet and enjoy a relaxing cup of tea or watch a romantic comedy.

2. Create Something - Take time to write in your journal or spend your spare time venting about your experiences. If you're artistic, some of the best ways to relieve stress involve writing! Pick up your oil paints or pastels and turn your frustration into beautiful flowers or a exotic landscape. The possibilities are endless!

3. Go for a Walk - Exercise is one of the best ways people can relieve stress and negative energy. Next time you're angry or upset go for a walk in your favorite park or spend some time getting fresh air. Go hiking or ride your bike on some trails with your sweetheart. The possibilities are endless.

4. Get a Psychic Reading! - Talking out your issues and getting psychic insight is an awesome way to relieve stress. When I get upset, I talk to my favorite psychics on the line for clarity and compassion regarding my situation. It's great to talk out your issues and CP's psychics are available 24/7 to relieve some of the stress.

5. Visualize Happiness - Thinking about things in your life that you appreciate and enjoy can make the stress melt away. Think about creating your favorite food for dinner one night out of the week or change your negative energy into positive, by creating a positive experience for yourself. As a kid growing up we would thank God before bed for what we we're thankful for. I still do this on a daily basis and appreciate everything I have and love. If you take a good look at your life you can realize how special it really is.

6. Clean! - A healthy, happy, clean home is known to draw positivity, just like a dirty one can draw negativity. If you regularly clean and cleanse your home it's a great way to relieve stress and reap the benefits of a clean home in the process. Imagine the negativity and stress leaving your body and your home floating far away.

7. Listen to music - If you listen to your favorite music and sing along, you can reduce your stress level by having fun and enjoying your favorite tunes.

8. See what's new in the news - When you're thinking about other people's lives and concentrating on what's new in the press and in the news, it keeps you informed and in tune with your environment. If you can connect with your favorite celebs and keep updated on the latest gossip, you'll be thinking less about personal mishaps.

9. Laugh it off - Laughing is one of the greatest and easiest ways to reduce stress--download your favorite comic relief from iTunes, check out what's new with Comedy Central. South Park is always good for a laugh, I relax and watch every week religiously with my husband. Try to jump in Red's or another funny psychic's callback, personally I love psychics that can provide comic relief when explaining your life's stresses and there are a ton of them on CP. Stay connected and in tune with friends and family, since conversation is a great way to provoke a laugh. 🙂

10. Get a pet!! - Working with animal shelters, as an equestrian, or even cuddling up on the couch with your animal is a great way to relieve stress. I've found horseback riding is great exercise, it's relaxing and it's a great way to enhance your psychic ability. Since you're connecting with an animal on a spiritual level and working as a team to accomplish something you're enhancing your Empathy and Clairvoyant abilities naturally. It's scientifically proven, petting an animal reduces stress and promotes healing and happiness in a person's life.

With the new year just around the corner, there are three powerful tips I'd like to share with you that'll not only make this your best year ever, but will lay the essential groundwork for abundance and prosperity beyond your wildest dreams for you and your loved ones in the years to come.

Here they are:

Powerful Tip #1 - Get your health in order.

In his book "The Art of Money Getting or Golden Rules for Making Money", the infamous P. T. Barnum wrote:

"The foundation of success in life is good health: that is the substratum fortune; it is also the basis of happiness. A person cannot accumulate a fortune very well when he is sick. He has no ambition; no incentive; no force. Of course, there are those who have bad health and cannot help it: you cannot expect that such persons can accumulate wealth, but there are a great many in poor health who need not be so."

How true...

Good health *is* the very foundation upon which wealth is built.

As a matter of fact...

As Ralph Waldo Emerson put it in his book "The Conduct of Life":

"The first wealth is health."

Because, as he went on to explain:

"Sickness is poor-spirited, and cannot serve any one: it must husband its resources to live. But health or fullness answers its own ends and has to spare, runs over, and inundates the neighborhoods and creeks of other men's necessities."

Hmmm...

Just about says it all, doesn't it? 🙂

The bottom line is...

Just as it'd be far easier for you to build a house when you're healthy than when you're not...

Wealth, success, happiness, and love are a whole heck of a lot easier to "build" when you're healthy than when you're not.

It's that simple. 🙂

Powerful Tip #2 - Decide what you want to be when you grow up.

Let me ask you...

When you think of Bill Gates, what do you think of?

Software, right?

When you think of Warren Buffet, what do you think of?

Investments, right?

When you think of Michael Dell, what do you think of?

Computers, right?

When you think of Donald Trump, what do you think of?

Real estate, right?

When you think of Sam Walton, what do you think of?

Discount stores, right?

When you think of J. K. Rowling, what do you think of?

Books, right?

When you think of Ray Kroc, what do you think of?

Fast food, right?

When you think of Wayne Huizenga, what do you think of?

Garbage, right?

When you think of Oprah Winfrey, what do you think of?

Television, right?

When you think of Tiger Woods, what do you think of?

Golf, right?

Now...

Think about it...

Besides having "a lot" of money, by most anyone's standards, what do *all* these "rich" folks have in common?

The answer?

Simple...

They all made their "money", at least initially, just as all great fortunes have been made, in *ONE* business or profession, *NOT* ten different businesses or professions, *ONE* business or profession.

In other words...

They got rich by deciding what they wanted to be when they grew up, choosing the *ONE* business or profession they wanted to be in, and then they focused on that *ONE* business or profession until they "made it".

Therefore...

If "riches" and "wealth" are what *you* want...

That's *exactly* what you must do as well!

Decide what it is you want to be when you grow up...

Choose the *ONE* business or profession you want to be in...

Then focus *exclusively* on that *ONE* business or profession until you "make it"!

Powerful Tip #3 - Spend more high-quality time with your loved ones NOW!

I can't even begin to tell you how many people have emailed me, over the last several years, telling me they wanted a million dollars so they can spend more time with their loved ones, more often than not their children.

Yep...

I can see it now...

There they are in one room, beating their head against their computer monitor trying to figure out how to make a million dollars on the Internet, while their son or daughter quietly sits in another room wondering why mommy or daddy won't play with them.

Ridiculous?

Sure is.

Farfetched?

Not in the least.

As a matter of fact...

Sadly...

That's *exactly* how the vast majority of people spend their entire lives...

Don't you be one of them!

Here's the deal...

You don't need a million dollars to spend more time with your loved ones.

As a matter of fact...

You don't need any money at all to spend more time with them!

Father and child, pivotal parenting

All you need is to make the commitment and the time to do so.

With that thought in mind...

I wish you and your loved ones the absolute best of holiday seasons and a wealthy, healthy, successful, and happy New Year!

Here are some thoughts for finding and experiencing joy in your life. If there were one thing I could wish upon my family, friends and the readers of this [article], it would be joy in everything they do!

Know your purpose. Nothing will bring you joy more than knowing what it is that you are about on this earth. Not knowing brings sadness, wondering, fear and lack of fulfilment. Above all, find out what your unique purpose is here on this earth - then fulfil it! As you do, you will experience joy!

Live purposefully. This is a follow up to number one. It is one thing to know your purpose, but then you need to live according to that purpose. This is a matter of priorities. Let your actions and schedule reflect your purpose. Don't react to circumstances and let them cause you to live without your purpose fully in site. Living without your purpose will cause frustration. Living purposefully will bring you deep satisfaction and joy!

Stretch yourself. Don't settle into the status quo. That will leave you unfulfilled. Always look to stretch yourself. Whatever you are doing, stretch yourself to do more! Stretching yourself will break the limits you have set for yourself and will cause you to find joy in your expanded horizons!

Give more than you take. It brings happiness to accumulate. It brings joy to give away. Sure, getting the car you worked hard for will bring you a sense of satisfaction and even happiness. But it won't bring you joy. Giving something away to the less fortunate will bring you deep, abiding joy.

Surprise yourself, and others too. The words here are spontaneity and surprise! Every once in a while, do the unexpected. It will cause everybody to sit back and say, "Wow, where did that come from?" It will put a little joy in your life, and theirs.

Indulge yourself sometimes. Too much indulgence and you are caught in the happiness trap. Looking for the next purchase, celebration etc to bring you a little "happiness high." But if you will allow yourself an infrequent indulgence as a reward for a job well done and a life well lived, you will appreciate the indulgence and experience the joy of it.

Laugh a little - no, a lot! Most people are just too serious. We need to laugh a little - no, a lot! Learn to laugh daily, even if you have to learn to laugh in bad situations. This life is to be enjoyed! The next time you go to the movie rental store, get a comedy and let loose! Let yourself laugh!

Joy can be yours! Look for it, pursue it and enjoy it!
